Money and Banking: From Mesopotamia to Modern Days
On Friday, October 19, 2012 at 3:30 pm, in the conference hall, Giorgi Bakradze will deliver a seminar titled “Money and Banking: From Mesopotamia to Modern Days”. Giorgi Bakradze is the Senior Research Adviser at ISET-PI, Advisor of the President of the National Bank of Georgia and the world champion of the intellectual game show What? Where? When?. The seminar will cover the brief history of money and banking from ancient times to present day. It will describe the development of different pecuniary systems and monetary instruments, from Lydian coins through medieval tallies and first paper money to the cashless economy of today.
