On 12 September, ISET hosted Mr. Albert Park, Chief Economist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In his address, he spoke to the ISET community of students and researchers about “Technology, Globalization, and the Changing Nature of work in Emerging Markets”. Within the talk, he reviewed quite how globalization and technological progress affect skills and employment in emerging markets, as well as Georgia’s position on the global map.
It is particularly noteworthy that this was Mr. Park’s first visit to Georgia in the capacity of an ADB economic spokesperson. Beyond this role, he also leads the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department (ERCD), which publishes pivotal knowledge products, such as the Asian Development Outlook, Asian Economic Integration Report, Asia Bond Monitor, and the Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific.
Since the foundation of the ISET, it has had a strong relationship with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The ADB and ISET have further strengthened their relationship by signing a Memorandum of Agreement, specifically between the ADB and the ISET Library, under the ADB's Depository Library Program. Under the Memorandum, ISET's Library will collaborate with the ADB to make ADB digital publications available in the library’s digital catalogue for library users, the general public, as well as academics, personal and other constituencies, and nongovernmental organizations. The ADB will distribute the latest digital publications, which will be updated on a quarterly basis, including public awareness-raising materials.
ISET is very glad to deepen its cooperation with a partner who has been so important in its history, and very pleased to be able to offer even more resources to its students, partners, and the public.
